Explosive Leg Lifts
with Blaze Sports Performance
Strength and conditioning trainer Nate Blazevich has designed this workout to help you build the explosive jumping ability that will separate you from the competition. Nate is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a former strength coach at the University of Pittsburgh.
Box Jumps
This exercise helps you build explosive strength by teaching you how to get off the ground as high as possible and then decelerate your body in a controlled manner. Recommended reps: 3 sets of 5-10 jumps. Do more reps if you choose a lower box height.
Dead Lift
The dead life mimics the jumping motion and trains your body to jump higher by providing resistance to your movement. Recommended reps: 4 sets of 5 reps; increase the weight you use each time but make sure to maintain good posture during each rep.
Back Squats
If you are a beginner, make sure to do this exercise with a partner. The back squat targets all of major muscle groups in your leg and the general movement mimics jumping.
